The short version

  • We never sell your data, and there are no ads.
  • Conversations are never recorded, unless all four of you choose a recorded session with an experienced couple.
  • No AI reads, hears or analyses anything you share. Your boundaries are seen by nobody, not even your partner.
  • Sensitive topics are only used with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw anytime.
  • You can download or delete everything from the app, at any time.
  • If you’re an experienced couple, the payee’s payout and identity details are stored encrypted, checked by hand by one person at Venna, and used only to pay you and meet tax law.

1. Who we are

Venna is published by Leonce Medewanou, an individual publisher, Cotonou, Benin (“we”). We are responsible for your personal data.

For any question about it, write to privacy@getvenna.com. No data protection officer has been appointed; this address reaches the person responsible for your data.

2. What we collect

  • Your account: your email address, or the private relay address Apple gives us if you sign in with Apple; your pseudonym, age range, languages and time zone.
  • Your couple: who your partner is, and what you choose to tell us, such as how long you’ve been together or whether you have children.
  • Your topics: what you’re going through and what you’ve been through, the details you pick for each, and anything you add in your own words.
  • Your private settings: your boundaries, your availability and your answers to the private check-in.
  • Your sessions: who you met, when, for how long, and what happened to the credits. Never the audio.
  • After a session: your reflection, private notes, feedback and rating, and anything you chose to share with the other couple.
  • Reports and messages you send us.
  • Purchases: Apple (on iPhone) or Google Play (on Android) handles payment. We receive the purchase record, including whether your Venna Unlimited subscription is active, never your card details.
  • Invitations: which couple invited yours, which couples you invited, and whether the free credits were earned.
  • If all four of you choose a recorded session: the audio recording of that session, with your real voices.
  • Your answers to the two-week check-in, and gift codes you buy or use.
  • If you’re an experienced couple: any session questions you write, the topics you share, your price, your earnings and your payouts. To pay you, the payee gives us the name on the account, the account details (an IBAN, or a Wise or Payoneer email) and the country, and once: their legal name, address, date of birth, tax identification number and a photo of an identity document.
  • Technical data: device model, app version, notification token and crash reports.

3. Sensitive information

Some topics you pick can be things the law treats as especially sensitive, such as your sex life or your health. We only use them with your explicit consent, given on its own screen when you sign up (“Use my topics for matching”).

You can withdraw it anytime in Us › Privacy & data. Venna keeps working, but we can no longer match you on those topics.

4. Why we use it

  • To run Venna for you: your account, your couple, matching, sessions and credits. This is needed to provide the service you asked for.
  • To match you on what you’re living. This is based on your consent.
  • To keep sessions safe: reviewing reports, preventing abuse and suspending accounts when needed. This is our legitimate interest in protecting the people who use Venna.
  • To run recorded sessions: based on the explicit consent each of the four gives separately, and on the conditions you accept for that session.
  • To run invitations: giving the free credits, preventing abuse, and never matching couples linked by an invitation. This is needed to provide the service.
  • To pay experienced couples, and to report their earnings to tax authorities where the law requires it (in the European Union, the rules known as DAC7). This is needed for our agreement with them, and a legal obligation.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as accounting or answering a lawful request.

We never use your data for advertising, and we never sell it.

5. No AI

Venna doesn’t use artificial intelligence. No AI reads what you pick or write, listens to sessions, matches couples or reviews reports. Matching follows fixed rules, the session guide follows a plan made before each session, and people review every report.

6. Who sees what

  • The other couple sees your couple number, the topics you share, and what you chose to show, such as years together, children and language. During the session they hear your pseudonym and your voice. Never your email, your boundaries or anything private.
  • Your partner sees your couple’s shared information and shared summaries. Never your boundaries, your private notes or your check-in answers.
  • Service providers who run Venna for us, under contracts that protect your data: hosting, voice calls and email. Amazon Web Services (hosting, Paris, France), LiveKit (voice calls, EU servers in Frankfurt, Germany), Brevo (email, France), Resend (website waitlist and contact form, United States), Sentry (error reports, EU servers), Apple and Google (purchases and notifications), Wise and Payoneer (payouts to experienced couples).
  • Couples who meet an experienced couple see that they’re paid, and the price they set. Never their earnings.
  • In a recorded session that nobody refused within 7 days, the experienced couple receives the recording, with your real voices, and may publish it. From then on, they are responsible for it.
  • Experienced couples see their overall rating and short lines from private feedback, without names or dates, and only once 5 couples have left feedback.
  • If you’re an experienced couple with a public page, anyone using Venna sees what you put on it: your names, a line about you, your topics, your price and your open times.
  • The couple who invited you sees that you joined and whether the free credit was earned. Never who you meet, and you never see who they meet.
  • Apple, for Sign in with Apple and for payments on iPhone; Google, for payments on Android through Google Play.
  • Wise, or Payoneer where Wise doesn’t reach, to send experienced couples’ payouts. They receive the name on the account, the account details and the amount, never anything about your sessions.
  • Tax authorities, for experienced couples’ earnings, and other authorities only when the law requires it.

7. How long we keep it

  • Session audio: never stored, except in recorded sessions: deleted at once if anyone refuses; otherwise deleted from Venna 30 days after it’s given to the experienced couple.
  • Your topics, notes and summaries: until you delete them or your account.
  • Shared summaries: deleted for both partners if either of you leaves the couple.
  • Your account: erased within 30 days after you delete it.
  • Reports and safety decisions: 24 months, to protect other couples.
  • Purchase records: as long as accounting law requires.
  • Invitation links: as long as either account exists, so you’re never matched.
  • Experienced couples’ earnings, payouts and tax details (legal name, address, date of birth, tax number): as long as accounting and tax law requires, up to 10 years. We keep them 10 years.
  • The photo of an identity document: deleted 30 days after we check it. We keep only that it was checked, and when.
  • Payout account details: until the last payout to them is made, then 13 months in case a payout is questioned.

8. Where it’s stored

Your data is stored in the European Union, on Amazon Web Services servers in Paris, France. If a provider processes it outside the European Union, it’s protected by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

9. Your rights

You can access, correct, download or delete your data, object to some uses, and withdraw your consent at any time.

  • Download: Us › Privacy & data › Download my data. We email you one file within 48 hours.
  • Delete: Us › Privacy & data › Delete my account.
  • Anything else: write to privacy@getvenna.com. We answer within one month.

If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority. In France, it’s the CNIL (cnil.fr).

10. Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and only the few people who need it can access it.

11. Age

Venna is for adults 18 and over. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.

12. This website

This website uses no advertising or tracking cookies. To count visits, it uses PostHog, in the United States under the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses, without cookies and without keeping your IP address.
