Terms of use

1. About Venna

Venna is published by Leonce Medewanou (“we”). It matches couples with other couples and guides private voice conversations between them.

The other couple shares their own experience. It isn’t professional advice, and Venna isn’t therapy, medical care or a crisis service. If you’re in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.

2. Who can use Venna

• You’re 18 or over.
• You use Venna with your partner, each with your own account.
• You’re in one couple at a time.
• You haven’t been removed from Venna before.

3. Your account

Give accurate information, except your name: in Venna you use a pseudonym. Keep access to your email or Apple ID safe. You’re responsible for what’s done with your account.

4. How we talk here

Everyone accepts four agreements before a session: speak from experience, listen to the end, keep it anonymous, and don’t judge. It’s not allowed to:

• record, screenshot or transcribe a session yourself;
• share anything that could identify the other couple, during or after;
• insult, harass, threaten, or say anything hateful;
• share sexual content;
• sell or promote anything, including, for experienced couples, a podcast, a book or a service;
• pretend to be someone else.

5. Sessions

A session happens only if all four of you say yes. It lasts 60 minutes, or 90 if all four of you say yes to 30 more minutes when the guide asks. Anyone can leave at any moment, and the session then ends for all four.

The waiting room opens 10 minutes before the start. A couple who isn’t there 10 minutes after the start counts as absent.

6. Credits and payment

• One credit is one session for your couple. A session with an experienced couple costs the price they set, from 2 credits, shown before you accept. 30 more minutes cost half the session’s price, for each couple. When you request an experienced couple, your credits are held until they answer, and come back if they decline, don’t answer within 48 hours, or cancel late.
• Credits are bought in the app through Apple on iPhone or Google Play on Android, at the price shown there. Where VAT applies, it’s included; in the US and Canada, sales tax may be added.
• They’re shared by both partners and never expire.
• They have no cash value and can’t be given to another couple.
• When a credit comes back after a cancellation, an absence or a report is explained in our help center.
• Refunds of purchases are handled by Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com, or by Google Play for purchases made on Android.
• If you delete your account, the unused credits you bought go to your partner; with no partner, they are lost.
• You can give sessions as a gift: you buy them through Apple or Google Play and get a code that never expires. The couple who uses it gets the credits. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google Play. If a gift is refunded after it was opened, the credits the couple hasn’t used yet are removed.
• A journey is three sessions on one topic, each with a different couple, for 3 credits. Each session still needs four yeses, and you can stop after any of them.

7. Venna Unlimited

• Venna Unlimited is a monthly subscription for your couple, bought in the app through Apple or Google Play. It costs $29.99 a month (or the price shown in the App Store or Google Play where you live) and renews automatically each month until you cancel. There’s no free trial.
• It covers both partners, each on their own phone: sessions with couples Venna matches you with, sessions with a couple you know, the steps of a journey with couples like you, and 30 more minutes in those sessions.
• It doesn’t cover sessions with experienced couples (including their 30 more minutes), an experienced couple chosen for a journey step, or gifts. These use credits, at their full price. The credits you have stay yours and never expire.
• Fair use: one covered session a day for your couple, and at most 3 upcoming covered sessions at a time. Beyond that, you can always book with credits.
• 3 late cancellations within 30 days pause covered bookings for 7 days; you can still book with credits. Absences follow the rule for everyone: 2 within 60 days pause matching for 30 days. The once-a-year grace doesn’t apply to covered sessions.
• Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play settings, at least 24 hours before renewal. It takes effect at the end of the month you paid for, and you’re covered until then. Venna can’t cancel it for you, including if you leave your couple, delete your account, or your account is suspended or removed.
• A session is covered if it starts before your subscription ends, at the exact time shown in the app. A later session needs a credit, held until 3 hours before it starts; without one, the time is released and both couples are told. If the subscription is refunded or revoked, coverage ends at once, under the same rule. Sessions that already happened are never charged.
• The subscription stays with the Apple ID or Google account that bought it. If you form a new couple later, it’s covered straight away.
• Family Sharing isn’t available for Venna Unlimited.
• Refunds are handled by Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com, or by Google Play for subscriptions bought on Android.
• Right of withdrawal: if you live in the European Union or the UK, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. When you subscribe, you ask us to start straight away and accept that you lose this right once your first covered session starts. If you withdraw within 14 days and before that, you’re refunded, minus the share of the month already used. Write to us or ask Apple or Google Play.

8. Inviting a couple

• Any couple can invite another couple with their couple code. One code per couple, entered before its first paid session: with credits it bought, or covered by a paid Venna Unlimited subscription.
• When the invited couple’s first paid session (with credits it bought, or covered by a paid Venna Unlimited subscription) passes 10 minutes, both couples get one free credit.
• Once the invited couple’s free first session with a couple you know is used up (counted, missed or cancelled late), the invitation can no longer pay: that couple can’t enter a code anymore, a code it already entered no longer counts, and neither couple gets an invitation credit.
• A couple can be rewarded for up to 10 invitations a year.
• Free credits work like the others and never expire, but they can’t be refunded.
• You’re never matched with a couple linked to you by an invitation, and neither couple learns who the other meets.
• A creator’s code works like any couple code: the new couple and the creator each get one free credit, never money.
• Inviting yourselves, creating fake accounts or sending unsolicited messages to get credits isn’t allowed. We can cancel credits obtained that way.

9. Launch offer

• If you join the waitlist on this website before Venna opens, you get 50% off your first purchase in the app.
• One offer per person, on your first purchase in the app: credits or your first month of Venna Unlimited.
• We’ll email you how to claim it when Venna opens; it’s valid for 30 days from that email.

10. First session with a couple you know

• Your first session on Venna is free when it’s with a couple you know, as long as neither partner has ever held a session on Venna, in this couple or an earlier one.
• It only applies to a session booked as “A session with a couple you know”. Never with a couple Venna matches you with, an experienced couple or a journey step. Each couple is checked on its own: if the other couple has already held a session, they use a credit or Venna Unlimited as usual.
• It’s used up when the session is counted (once it passes 10 minutes), or if your couple misses it or cancels late. If you cancel earlier, or the session doesn’t happen through no fault of yours, you keep it for your next session with a couple you know.
• If Venna Unlimited covers your couple, the session is covered by it, and the free session isn’t kept for later.
• One per person, ever: leaving your couple and forming a new one doesn’t give you another.
• Once it’s used up, your couple can no longer trigger an invitation reward: you can’t enter a couple code anymore, a code you already entered no longer pays, and neither you nor the couple who invited you gets an invitation credit.
• It isn’t a purchase, so it doesn’t use the launch offer: your 50% off applies to your first purchase in the app.

11. Experienced couples

Venna invites some couples to share, for a fee, what they lived on chosen topics. Both partners must accept, and also sign a short agreement for experienced couples. In addition to the rest of these terms:

• You set your price per session in credits, from 2 credits, with no maximum. A new price applies to new matches only.
• You earn 80% of what each credit used for your session brought in, after taxes and app store fees. Venna keeps 20%. Free credits count at the value of a credit in our largest pack.
• A session counts once it passes 10 minutes. You aren’t paid for a session you miss, cancel late or leave early, or if a report about it is upheld.
• We pay your earnings once a month, on the 5th, for sessions at least 14 days old. Under 20 €, the amount waits for the next month. We pay by Wise, or by Payoneer where Wise isn’t available, to an account in the payee’s name. We pay the transfer fee, so your 80% stays 80%.
• Before the first payout, the payee gives us their payout details in the app and, once, their legal name, address, date of birth, tax number and a photo of an ID. We check them by hand. The law (DAC7) requires us to collect them and to report your yearly earnings to the tax authorities.
• We can hold earnings linked to a report while it’s reviewed.
• Couples can request you at your open times. They stay anonymous to you. You answer within 48 hours, unless you accept automatically. Their credits are held, not spent, until then, and the price is the one shown when they asked.
• If you cancel late or don’t come, the other couple gets all their credits back and you aren’t paid. Twice in 60 days pauses your role until the next review.
• If your voices are publicly known, you can open a public page, reviewed by us before it goes live. You can block any couple, and a couple can only have one request with you at a time.
• Your public page can link to your own podcast and social accounts, never to booking, payment or contact details: sessions are always booked in Venna.
• You choose together whose account receives the money; changing it needs you both. If you leave Venna or your couple ends, the role ends, and everything still owed is paid to that account in the next monthly payouts.
• You’re independent: you’re not employed by Venna. You declare your earnings yourselves, and we report them to tax authorities where the law requires it.
• You share your experience, not advice, and never present yourselves as therapists or professionals.
• You can write your own session questions. We check them before use against these terms; Venna’s opening and closing questions stay; a question that touches someone’s private boundaries is skipped; and the questions of a confirmed session don’t change.
• If your voices are publicly known, you accept that you may be recognised, and you never talk publicly about anyone you met.
• Your role is reviewed every 6 months from private feedback. It can end, or you can give it up, at any time. Earnings already made are still paid.

12. Recorded sessions

An experienced couple can offer recorded sessions on some of their open times, marked “On the record”. No other session is ever recorded.

• Each of the four people agrees separately, after reading these conditions. Nobody learns who said no.
• Your real voices are recorded. They are never altered or disguised.
• The price is the experienced couple’s usual price.
• After the session, each of you can listen back for 7 days. If anyone refuses, the recording is deleted and nothing is shared.
• If nobody refuses within 7 days, you give the experienced couple, free of charge and for good, the right to use, edit and publish the recording, in whole or in part, on any medium and worldwide, including their podcast, YouTube and social media. This can no longer be withdrawn through Venna.
• Don’t name or describe anyone who isn’t in the session. The experienced couple must not publish anything that identifies them.
• A session reported during or after it is never shared.
• The experienced couple publishes only approved recordings and is responsible for what they publish. Venna gives them the recording and deletes its copy 30 days later.

13. Reports, suspension and removal

Every report is read by a person within 24 hours. If someone breaks these terms, we can pause their matching, suspend their account or remove it.

A person reviews the sessions before any suspension, and you can ask for a review: a person reads every appeal. Serious or repeated problems remove a couple from Venna.

14. Your content

What you write stays yours. You allow us to use it only to run Venna for you, as described in our privacy policy. Your boundaries are never shown to anyone.

15. Our responsibility

We do our best to keep Venna available and safe, but we can’t guarantee it will always work, or what other couples will say. To the extent the law allows, we’re not responsible for decisions you take after a conversation.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer.

16. Leaving Venna

You can leave your couple or delete your account at any time in the app. This doesn’t cancel a Venna Unlimited subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings. We can close an account after notice, or straight away in case of serious breach.

17. Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we tell you in the app at least 30 days before.

18. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Benin. If something goes wrong, write to us first: most things are solved that way. This doesn’t take away the protection your own country’s consumer law gives you: you can still turn to its consumer bodies and courts.

If you live in the European Union, you keep the protection of your country’s consumer law.
